Frequently asked questions

01

Getting started

How does Competitor Research work?
Paste your website. We find the companies competing for your customers, you pick the ones worth watching, and from then on we pull a weekly summary of what changed: pricing, positioning, launches, news, SEO, ads. You read ten minutes instead of running a quarterly research project.
Do I need to sign up to try it?
You can preview the competitor map before signing up. The full dossiers, weekly signals, and watchlists live inside the app, which starts with a free trial, no card required.
How long does onboarding take?
Under five minutes. Add your site, approve the competitors we surface, and your first dossiers are generated in the background. You’ll get your first weekly digest the following Monday.
02

Plans and pricing

How much does it cost?
Plans start at $100 a month for solo operators and scale up for teams and agencies. The full breakdown is on the pricing page once it ships.
Is there a free plan?
We offer a free trial rather than a free tier. That keeps the data pipeline running for people who are serious about using the product.
Do you offer annual discounts?
Yes, paying annually saves roughly two months a year.
03

Data and coverage

Where does your data come from?
Public web sources: competitor websites, pricing and blog pages, news outlets, ad libraries, review sites, and app stores. We respect each source’s terms of use and published crawl rules.
How often is data refreshed?
Core competitor pages are re-checked daily. News and ad signals are near real time. The weekly digest rolls up the past seven days into one report.
Can I track private or gated content?
No. We monitor only what’s publicly available. If something sits behind a login or paywall, we won’t try to get around it.
04

Integrations and exports

Does it integrate with Slack or Notion?
Slack is on the short list; we’ll send the weekly digest and high-impact alerts to a channel of your choice. Notion and other destinations follow once Slack lands.
Can I export data?
Yes. Dossiers, alerts, and the weekly digest export as PDF or CSV. A read-only API is planned for paid plans.
05

Security and compliance

Where is data stored?
In US-based infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. Full details live on the security page.
Are you SOC 2 compliant?
SOC 2 Type II is in progress. Customers under NDA can request our latest SIG Lite, subprocessor list, and DPA.
06

Accounts and billing

Can I cancel or switch plans?
Anytime, from the billing page. Changes apply at the end of the current cycle. No retention calls.
Can I invoice annually?
Yes for teams on the higher tiers. Email billing@competitoresearch.com to set it up.
